Biography
Elizabeth Sullivan, MD, is a board-certified nephrologist. She earned her medical degree from Facultad de Medicina Universidad de Navarra (UNAV); completed residency training in internal medicine at Stony Brook University Hospital; and completed fellowship training in nephrology at the University of Rochester.
At Virginia Nephrology Group, Dr. Sullivan provides comprehensive care for patients with kidney disease, with a strong focus on chronic kidney disease, kidney stones, and electrolyte imbalances. Her special area of focus is hypertension. She has published articles on the association between self-perceived walking pace with the incidence of hypertension and mannitol therapy for choroidal hemorrhage.
Dr. Sullivan’s care philosophy is grounded in individuality: “As medical professionals, we know the theory and the medical science, but to me, medicine is, most importantly, an art because of the uniqueness of each patient. I am most satisfied professionally when I can meet my patients’ unique medical needs within the context of their personal stories.”
She is fluent in Spanish and Basque and is an active member of the American Society of Nephrology and the American College of Physicians. She was an ACP National Abstract Competition Winner. Outside of medicine, she enjoys spending time with her family, cooking, swimming, and watching Notre Dame Football. Dr. Sullivan is from Spain.
