Biography
Renu Regunathan-Shenk, MD, is a board-certified nephrologist. She earned her medical degree from Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai; completed residency training in internal medicine at Columbia University Medical Center and fellowship training in nephrology at the same institution.
At Fairfax and Reston offices, Dr. Regunathan-Shenk provides comprehensive care for patients with kidney disease, with a strong focus on glomerular disease and hypertension. She was awarded the Subspecialty Teaching Attending of the Year for Inova Fairfax Internal Medicine Residency in 2024.
Dr. Regunathan-Shenk’s care philosophy is grounded in empowerment: “I believe in educating and empowering patients to make healthy choices.”
She is fluent in Spanish and is an active member of the American Society of Nephrology. Outside of medicine, she enjoys spending time with family, reading, and cooking. Dr. Regunathan-Shenk is from New York.
